As we are progressing closer towards the launch of our testnet on Bittensor and ultimately closer to the launch of our own subnet, we will be shedding more light on the use-cases and benefits of creating “our own place” on the Bittensor network.

The launch of the NeuralAI subnet is going to be a key component in our broader roadmap to democratize access to high-quality 3D asset generation, and we’re excited to educate you on how and why this matters.

The Challenge (in short)

Generating 3D assets is a resource-intensive process that requires significant computational power as well as human resources. Traditionally, this has meant high costs for hardware and electricity, artist teams and developers, posing a barrier for many creators, developers and not to mention studios.

Bittensor (in simple terms)

Bittensor is a decentralized machine learning network where participants contribute their computational resources in exchange for tokens (TAO). This setup allows for the distribution of heavy computational tasks across a global network of nodes, making it a cost-effective (as power is shared among a network of GPUs) and scalable solution.

Our Solution: The NeuralAI 3D Asset Generation Subnet

We are developing a specialized subnet within the Bittensor network to handle 3D asset generation tasks. Here’s a detailed look at how this will work and the benefits it will bring.

How It Works

Task Submission:

  • Users submit 3D asset generation tasks through the NeuralAI platform (dApp), the Neural 3D plugins for Unreal Engine, Unity or Blender, or our API key-based solution for bigger studios.
  • Tasks (generation requests) are handled by validators in our subnet, and distributed to appropriate miners to fulfill them.

Distributed Computation:

  • Validators receive the task request, handle distribution to miners and validate the results.
  • Miners use their computational power to process the tasks based on quality and time restraints from the subnet incentive mechanism.
  • This decentralized approach leverages multiple nodes, ensuring efficient and rapid completion of tasks.

Result Delivery:

  • Completed 3D assets are returned to the user.
  • The user can download and integrate these assets into their projects.

Why This Approach Makes Sense

Cost Efficiency:

  • Token Economy: Validators are compensated with tokens, reducing the direct financial burden on users.
  • Shared Resources: By distributing tasks across a network, we minimize the need for expensive, centralized hardware.

Scalability:

  • Dynamic Scaling: As demand increases, miners and validators can increase capacity by adding more GPUs per miner, to handle requests simultaneously.
  • Efficient Load Balancing: The network dynamically balances the load, ensuring that no single miner is overwhelmed.

Reliability:

  • Decentralized Resilience: With tasks spread across multiple miners, and miners being validated and therefore also replaced based on their output, the network is robust against individual instance failures.
  • Consistent Performance: Distributed processing ensures steady and reliable task completion times and results.

Technical Benefits and Calculations

To give you a clearer picture, let’s dive into some technical details and potential cost savings:

  • Traditional Costs: Generating a single 3D asset typically requires not just computational power but also the expertise of skilled 3D artists. Hiring a professional 3D artist can cost anywhere from $30 to $100+ per hour. For a complex asset that takes 10 hours to create, this could range from $300 to $1,000, excluding additional overhead costs for software and hardware.
  • Bittensor Subnet Cost: In our decentralized model, the cost to users is eliminated. Validators and miners are rewarded by the bittensor network in TAO tokens, but users of the Neural dApp, Neural plugins or API can generate 3D assets at no cost, leveraging the computational power of the decentralized network without any financial burden.

For example:

  • If the reward for generating a 3D asset is covered by the network’s incentives, users effectively save 90–100% compared to traditional artist costs.
  • Additionally, the competition between miners to produce better and better results while aligning with our incentive mechanism, naturally leads to constantly improving results in terms of quality and speed.

Roadmap and Future Developments

Our 3D asset generation subnet is part of a larger roadmap aimed at providing decentralized solutions for a variety of computationally intensive tasks. Here’s what you can expect in the coming months:

  1. Infrastructure Development: We are currently building the technical infrastructure needed to support the subnet.
  2. GitHub Repository: NeuralAI will open a GitHub repository to share our progress and collaborate with the community.
  3. Testnet Launch: Not very far from now, we will be launching a testnet for the upcoming subnet allowing us to refine the system based on real-world usage.
  4. Full Launch: Once testing is complete, we will launch the subnet to the world, enabling widespread access to affordable 3D asset generation made possible by blockchain.
